About Us
From Timeout New York: “Chef Oleg Lyaskoronskiy (Gramercy Tavern) turns out an easy menu of takeout-friendly fare, like organic greens topped with duck confit or prosciutto, at this Billyburg café. Free Wi-Fi and French-press coffees and teas are an added bonus for the laptop set.”
From Zagat: “Organic soups and sandwiches and more complex New American dishes define the menu of this environmentally savvy, morning-to-night Williamsburg newcomer; its informal interior, in which patrons are served their counter orders at the table, boasts sleek, hand-built wooden touches and opens to a partially covered patio in back; while a BYO policy keeps prices down.”
From StarkLife: “If you live or work in Williamsburg you are familiar with over priced takeout that arrives in basically earth polluting containers. well, fret no more. Ella cafe on Bedford serves up organic dishes and delivers them in totally biodegradable containers, cups and even silverware. i ordered the organic cheese omelet and it came with delish homefries (which I usually hate) and mixed greens with a rockʼn dressing the side. the menu is wide and varied with an ample amount of focus on organic comfort food such as organic chicken wings and organic chicken strips! Who could resist. They also have a back deck with outdoor seating.”
From Metromix: “Organic is the key ingredient at this wistful cafe in Williamsburg, which serves a brunchy menu of salads and sandwiches with a hint of a European accent in stuff like the keilbasa omelette and a side of ratatouille. Thereʼve been some grumblings from local Brooklynites about the woody eateryʼs odd ordering/seating scenario, which is stuck somewhere between a takeout coffee shop and a proper sit-down eatery. Still, suck it up and stop by—the make-your-own-juice bar and the canopied outdoor garden are worth it.”
From Amex Entertainment Access Spotlight: “What do you get when you cross an eco-conscious chef with one of the hippest neighborhoods in this city? Ella Café, the newest eatery along Williamsburgʼs still burgeoning Bedford corridor. Swapping Gramery Tavern for a cozy niche of his own, Chef Oleg Lyaskoronskiy turns out delicious organic fare with a twist —sandwiches are complemented by a mayo-free coleslaw mixed with cranberries, french fries get a sprinkle of malt vinegar — for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Staying true to his natural beliefs, all take-out bags, containers and cutlery are completely biodegradable, a lovely precedent weʼd like to see other restaurants follow. Recommended: Vegetable and Portobello sandwich with melted brie on hearty ciabatta”
